Biodiversity Case Studies
Great crested newts
As part of our biodiversity management, our surveys showed that Great
Crested Newts (a British Biodiversity Action Plan Species among other
species) had taken up residence in our wildlife area of the 'Thorns'
- an area that was created by quarrying in the 1980s. In the last
four years, Huntsmans has spent in excess of £30,000 protecting,
enhancing and monitoring the newts' habitat and this work is continuing.
