Dry Silo MortarHuntsmans have teamed up with Remix to bring dry silo mortar to the Cotswolds. Dry silo mortar is an easy to use readily available supply of consistent ready mixed mortar dispatched into handy returnable tubs. The product is made using materials that have been kiln dried and so only requires the addition of water at the point of dispatch. The mortar contains guaranteed cement contents with controlled air and workability. This provides a colour consistent and durable mortar which is less susceptible to frost and rain penetration. Available in a natural yellow colour it is ideally suited for: The mortar incorporates a retarder that allows for up to 12 hours workability in normal working conditions. Under no circumstances should other admixtures be added to the final mixed product. Highlights Helpful Hints Summer Joints should be tooled sometime after laying so that any excess water is either absorbed by the brickwork or has evaporated.Over working the joint can cause a lightening of the final colour. Tooling to late when there is low moisture can produce a darker colour. Prevent rapid loss of water when laid by using a damp sheeting. In hot weather store bricks in shade and or spray with water. Winter For best hydration and strength only lay in temperatures above 4 degrees CMortar develops more slowly in cold conditions. New mortar should be protected from frost with sheeting that will remain dry. Position covers away from masonry facework to avoid sweating and staining. Secure covers to prevent them being dislodged by wind and allow masonry to dry before removing covers, |
