Cotswold stone is known throughout the world as one of the most attractive and durable of all building materials. Huntsmans traditional slates and walling stone bring you the timeless beauty and warm colouring of a stone laid down 160 million years ago.

Our product range includes

Slates
Huntsmans slates are hand-crafted in our own quarry using individually selected layers or beds of Jurassic limestone. Every slate is, therefore, unique and is sawn and then hand-dressed by our own craftsmen.

The stone is typically 22 mm thick and either 300 mm or 400 mm square, and produces slate sizes from 6" to 24". This creates opportunities for a number of interesting laying patterns. Slates can be sold individually or by the 'roofing square' - 10' x 10'. They are delivered shrink wrapped on pallets or in crates.

Walling
The stone used for Huntsman walling is also hand-selected from the different beds in our Naunton quarry in order to offer our customers the unique variation of finish that makes Cotswold stone so special.

The stone can be delivered in small or large loads.

Split building stone
We extract some of the hardest stone in the North Cotswolds, which we then split to produce a rough faced building stone for external cladding or internal decorative work such as fireplaces. Variations in colour all contribute to the special character of Cotswold stone and enhance the appeal of buildings that use it. Stone for splitting is selected at random and this in turn produces a random face height (50mm - 150mm) and length (100mm - 400mm). Bed widths can be varied on request but normally are approx 120mm.
